A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE GREAT
GRANDMASTER LIM LENG HUAT (1916 - 1994)
In Singapore, he joined the
Chinese Pugilistic Centre (Chung Kuo Kuoshu Quan) at Club Street under
the leadership of Great Grandmaster Kan Teck Guan. At the centre, he
learned the Shaolin Wuzuquan, the Green-faced lion dance, curing of
internal and external injuries, bone-setting and also the use of the
eighteen traditional Chinese weapons.
At the age of 28, he completed his training and was awarded the Certificate of Proficiency by Great Grandmaster Kan Teck Guan, Chairman of Chinese Pugilistic Centre (Chung Kuo Kuoshu Quan). He was one of the founders and instructors of the Singapore Chinese Boxing Fellowship, which was formed in 1952. Since the formation of Nanyang Wushu Federation of Sarawak in 1974, Great Grandmaster Lim was appointed as its instructor. In April 1979, Master Lim was appointed as Medical Advisor-in-attendance to the 1st Sarawak Chinese Martial Arts Tournament held in Kuching. In May, 1979, Great Grandmaster Lim was upgraded to the post of Chief Instructor by the President of the Nanyang Wushu Federation of Sarawak. He was highly respected by all his juniors and students. The care and patience that went along with his teachings inspired his followers so geatly that he would always be remembered and appreciated by all.
