FISH DANCE
The
Fish Dance is one of the special performing arts choreographed by the
Chinese. Today, it is a physical culture activity and entertainment
event for the young and old. According to the Chinese belief,
the fish dance brings good harvest, peace and prosperity to the people.
The Fish Dance is performed with 9 fishes and accompanied by musical instruments such as the Drum, Gong and Cymbals. Out of the 9 fishes, one has special features: the Head of a Dragon and the Tail of a Fish. This is the “Dragon Fish”, which plays the leading role in this dance.
The
People's Cultural Arts Institute is at present promoting this special
arts to members of public.
