“Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan” Rank Assessment System

A) Assessment levels:

  1. Elementary: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
  2. Intermediate: 4th, 5th, 6th Degree / Duan / Dan/ Tuan
  3. Advanced: 7th, 8th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
  4. Higher: 9th, 10th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan

B) Assessment Qualification:

Open to all types of martial arts system participating in the following events:

  1. International Nanyang Wushu Festival,
  2. World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match,
  3. World Traditional Martial Arts Championship and
  4. World Martial Arts Black Belt Hall Of Fame

 

C) Assessment Procedure:

  1. 1st – 3 rd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – Assessment will based on the competition score at the above events
  2. 4th – 10th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – Application must be made in advance and take the examination independently.

D) Assessment Standard:

  1. 1st Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – competition score must be above 6.8 points
  2. 2nd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan- competition score must be above 7.3 points
  3. 2nd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan- competition score must be above 7.3 points
  4. 3rd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – competition score must be above 7.8 points
  5. 4th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – competition score must be above 8.3points
  6. 5th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – competition score must be above 8.8points
  7. 6th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – competition score must be above 9.3points
  8. 7th -10th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan – Please see details in Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan Promotion item 6 – 9.

 

E) Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan Promotion:

  1. 2nd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 1st Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over one year
  2. 3rd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 2nd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over two years
  3. 4th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 3rd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over three years. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match of the Instructor catergory
  4. 5th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 4th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over four years. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match of the Instructor catergory
  5. 6th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 5th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over five years. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match of the Master Category
  6. 7th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 6th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over six years and made outstanding achievements towards the promotion and development of martial arts with theoretical research. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match the Master category.
  7. 8th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 7th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over seven years and made outstanding achievements towards the promotion and development of martial arts with theoretical research. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match of the Master catergory.
  8. 9th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 8th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over eight years and made outstanding achievements towards the promotion and development of martial arts with theoretical research and written thesis. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match of the Grandmaster Category.
  9. 10th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan
    Those who have been 9th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan of any martial arts style for over nine years and made outstanding achievements towards the promotion and development of martial arts with theoretical research and written thesis. Candidates must be a participants of the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match of the Grandmaster Category.

F) Assessment Fees:

  1st Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$100/-
  2nd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$200/-
  3rd Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$250/-
  4th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$300/-
  5th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$350/-
  6th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$400/-
  7th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$450/-
  8th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$500/-
  9th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$600/-
  10th Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan - US$700/-

 

G) Martial Arts Degree Program

Candidates who successfully received the rank of Degree / Duan / Dan / Tuan from Martial Arts Federation Of Malaysia are eligible to apply for Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Degree in Martial Arts from the International Martial Arts Research Institute (IMARI) subject to terms and conditions.
